    • Obtain the age of 17
    • Have a valid Michigan driver’s license – Bring with you to apply.
    • Dependable transportation is a must.
    • Be a U.S. Citizen – Bring Social Security Card for verification.
    • High School graduate or GED – Bring HS transcripts & Diploma or GED.
    • Pass Aptitude test – details given to qualified applicants.
    • Pass physical exam – information provided at our Warren office.
    • Be Drug Free - test given after qualifications are confirmed.
    • Obtain two character reference letters from non-family members.
    • Shall be physically capable of performing the essential functions of the apprenticeship program without posing a direct threat to the health or safety of the individual or others.

    Apprenticeship applications are accepted online, however, you must read and follow instructions carefully. Hard copies are avaiable at our Warren office Monday - Friday 9:00am - 2:00pm.

    • The IMI Training Center is located just north of Eight Mile Road, on the west side of Ryan.

    Applicants meeting the minimum requirements will be given instructions and dates for the aptitude test, pre-placement medical exam and drug testing.


    Questions regarding the apprenticeship program can be directed to the Apprentice Coordinator, preferably via e-mail tom.ward@bricklayers.org.

    ORAL INTERVIEW  by the Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committe, top applicants are invited to attend pre-job training as needed. Students recieve a tipend of $10 per day, the late spring or summer sessions run for 6 weeks or until students are hired by one of our contractors.

    JOB PLACEMENT, successful completers will be placed with a contractor.
    After 6 months with 750 hours worked, you may qualify for up to a 5% raise.
