BAC LOCAL 2 OUTSTATE NEGOTIATION UPDATE

We are pleased to announce that Local 2's Bargaining Committee and Management Bargaining committee for the AGC, WCA, MCE, and the MCA are scheduled to go back to the bargaining table at 1 pm today.  We are cautiously optimistic that we will be able to come to agreement on a fair and reasonable contract with the AGC, WCA, MCE, and the MCA.

In the meantime, BAC Local 2 remains on strike in the ‘outstate’ area for members working for AGC, WCA, MCE and MCA contractors.

BAC Local 2 is a Statewide Local and this strike only affects the 4 contracts listed above.  It is important to note that those Not Affected by the strike are: contractors working in the Metro Detroit Chapter under those area agreements, all contractors working in the Upper Peninsula, all Tile, Marble and Terrazzo contractors and those contractors signed to the International ICE Agreement.

For more information, you can read the update from yesterday listed below.

Check back for updates to this website concerning the status of our Outstate contract with the AGC, WCA, MCE, and the MCA!

BAC LOCAL 2 OUTSTATE NEGOTIATION UPDATE

This is an update on Local 2’s Outstate contract negotiations with the Associated General Contractors (AGC), Washtenaw Contractors Association (WCA), Michigan Council of Employers (MCE) and the Mason Contractors Association (MCA).   Our current contract(s) expired, July 31, 2017 and Local 2’s committee has been bargaining in good faith for (6) meetings, since July 6th.

As you all may know, the Union went to great lengths to survey its members who work under the agreements listed above for ideas and feedback in preparation for 2017 negotiations.   Along with the desire for better wages, the members of this Union identified certain provisions of the current contract that they could/would not be willing to tolerate any longer.   And, the bargaining committee has taken its directive from this membership input.

After numerous explanations and discussion on the need for compromise, management has refused.    This unwillingness to compromise is provocative and short-sighted.

So, effective Tuesday August 1, 2017, BAC Local 2 is on strike in the ‘outstate’ area for members working for AGC, WCA, MCE and MCA contractors.  At this time, there will not be picket lines.   You should simply stay away from the job(s) and check with your respective BAC Local 2 Field Representatives if you have questions or need further detail.

BAC Local 2 is a Statewide Local and it is important to note that the Contractors in the Metro Detroit Area, all contractors working in the Upper Peninsula, all Tile, Marble and Terrazzo contractors and those contractors signed to the International ICE Agreement are not affected by the strike.

In closing you should know that, Local 2 desires a fair and reasonable contract with the AGC, WCA, MCE, and the MCA.    And, everyone knows that a strike is serious business.   But, we’ve been pushed into a corner and are now left with no other choice than to band together and take a stand for our future.

Stay Tuned to this website for updates!
