Launch your career in masonry with the Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Local #2 and the International Masonry Institute

Join the apprentices & journeymen of BAC Local 2 MI in saying, “I built that!”  BAC Local 2 represents all facets of the masonry sciences; Brick and Block, Stone, Cement, Plaster, Pointing/Cleaning/Caulking [Restoration and Preservation], Refractory, and Tile, Marble, or Terrazzo.

NO STUDENT LOANS!  All students will attend 12 weeks of pre-job training at one of our Training Centers.  Students pay no tuition & no out of pocket expenses for tools.  In fact you will receive a stipend for each day of training.  If you reside more than 70 miles from the Training Center in Lansing, housing is provided during pre-job training.

EARN A CERTIFICATE OR AN ASSOCIATE DEGREE!  In partnership with Washtenaw Community College (WCC), BAC University at WCC will grant 25 college credits to BAC members for the completion of a registered BAC apprenticeship program in conjunction with WCC’s online Construction Supervision program. http://www.wccnet.edu/unions/bricklayers/

EARN WHILE YOU LEARN!     Students receive job placement after graduating from the pre-job class.  After registration with the US DOL Office of Apprenticeship as an apprentice, a 5% raise is received for every 6 months and 750 hours worked.  The benefits beyond wages are health care, pension, union representation, & continuing education.

WHAT ARE THE QUALIFICATIONS?  Applicants must: be a resident of Michigan that is at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent; achieve ACT WorkKeys scores of Level 5 for Applied Mathematics, Level 4 Reading for Information, & Level 4 Locating Information; possess a valid driver’s license and dependable transportation; attend JATC oral interviews & be selected from the highest scores to fill workforce demands and pass a drug free test.

HOW DO I GET STARTED?  Go to www.bricklayers.org & select the IMI Lansing or IMI Warren tab to fill out an application online or call 517-886-2221 to request an application to an apprenticeship program.  The application cover letter supplies you with specific details. The Training Center will proctor ACT WorkKeys assessments when the application is submitted or you can submit documentation of your current ACT WorkKeys scores.
